Supporting Child Development and Advocating for those with Special Needs
ANTHEA BAILEY | HIGHLY SPECIALIST CHILDREN'S OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST | IPSWICH SUFFOLK
Provision of therapy in Ipswich, Suffolk and surrounding areas.
Many parents come to me because they’ve noticed their child finds certain things harder than others - perhaps they become overwhelmed by noise, struggle with big emotions, avoid busy places, find social situations difficult, need to control a situations or seem anxious in ways that are hard to explain. They may struggle with eating or managing activities like washing or brushing their teeth. They may notice their child struggles with handwriting and balance and coordination. Some children I support are non‑speaking or have more complex developmental needs; others need help understanding and regulating their sensory world.
You don’t need to have the right words or a diagnosis. If something doesn’t feel quite right, you’re in the right place.
I provide bespoke and individualised interventions to meet the needs and goals of the young person and their family/ care givers.
I accept referrals from families, local authorities, schools and other agencies.
As an Occupational Therapist, I look beneath the behaviour to understand what your child is experiencing.
How I Can Help

-
Emotional dysregulation
-
Social anxiety or avoidance
-
Attention and focus challenges
-
Motor skill difficulties
-
Play and independence skills
-
More complex presentations, including non‑speaking or pre-verbal children
My goal is to help your child feel safer, calmer and more confident in their everyday life - at home, at school and in the community.

Sessions are Fun,
Play‑Based and Child‑Led
Assessments are gentle, low pressure and completely led by the child.
I use play to understand how your child moves, communicates, regulates and interacts. Most children relax quickly because it feels like play.
After the assessment, you’ll receive clear, practical recommendations tailored to your child - no jargon, no overwhelm.
Support for the School Day
Many children find the school day overwhelming, the noise, the transitions, the social expectations and the constant demands can all add up. I offer practical guidance to the school to help your child feel more settled, confident and ready for learning.
How We Begin
Start With a Call
The first step is a short, friendly phone call. This gives you space to talk through your concerns, ask questions and get a sense of whether I’m the right fit for your child. There’s no pressure - just a chance to understand what’s going on and what support might help.
Use the contact form to get in touch - I look forward to supporting you and your child.

Your Next Step With Me
From there, we can book either:
-
A full assessment if you’re looking for a clear understanding of your child’s needs, or
-
A review session if your child has already had assessments elsewhere and you’d like guidance, reassurance or updated recommendations.
Both pathways provide a structured, evidence‑based understanding of your child’s strengths and needs.
Ongoing Support (If You Want It)
After the assessment or review, you can choose to continue with regular sessions. These may focus on sensory regulation, emotional support, school participation, independence skills or whatever your child needs most. Some families prefer weekly sessions; others check in monthly or as needed. It’s completely flexible.
With the right support, every child can grow, flourish and feel more at ease in their world

TESTIMONIALS
THERAPY

"It was so lovely to meet you and I was blown away by how quickly my son connected with you and how obviously comfortable he felt with you! I’ve never seen him like that before so quickly. He talked about how much he enjoyed playing with you so can’t thank you enough for making the meeting so fun and relaxed as I had little idea how he would react or exactly what to expect."

"The work that Anthea has done with my son over the past couple of years has been invaluable in helping me, and other professionals, to understand him better and to learn how we can best support him. Her initial assessment was really thorough and took into account his complex background and the many factors affecting his needs."

"Anthea was highly recommended to us by my daughter's SLT. My daughter, S, age 3, has significant anxiety and sensory processing problems, but we needed to understand more about the areas in which she struggles and exactly how to help her.
I was amazed at how quickly Anthea managed to engage with her. The assessment process felt very natural and Anthea read S's needs well. S in fact, has asked (in her own way) for Anthea to come and play again, which really is a true honour given her anxiety around new people!
We are very much looking forward to working with Anthea for a course of therapy for S, both at home and her childcare setting and would highly recommend her to others. Thank you so much for being so sensitive to S’s needs."

"Anthea has changed our lives!"
